Blowing Glass and Inspiring Mizar and Alcor Glasswares

Spending a majority of my childhood in cowboy boots, a hat, and a lead rope in hand. I can't remember the day I first fell in love with horses because they've always been my favorite animal, none compared to me.

There's a sense of excitement and adrenaline when you're bareback riding and you let the horse fly at full speed through the field hanging on to the mane for stability. Every muscle ripples with each thunderous hoof pounding the ground as we soar through the waves of grass. A river approaches and you notice the horses ears focus on the jump, the body collects, I engage into a jumper position, and we fly. For a moment, the gravity falls away and you're weightless launching into the air above the ground. The feeling is fleeting as the weight sets into you as you descend back to earth, the horses body tilts forward to receive the landing, and then the familiar four beat thud as we meet the other side of the river bank. The sunshine beats into my eyes and the wind rushes around us as we cannon ball further into the fields. Finally, we enter a fast trot and waltz into a slow walk and graze after the explosion of speed.

Not many things in life gave me this sense of freedom and excitement until I began blowing glass in 2012 in college. Now it's my full-time job and passion that I spend a lot of time working on improving, pushing my abilities and skills to do more. I struggled to find a place in the glass world that felt like my own thing and that I felt passionate about. I took a class at Urbanglass in 2022 with Grace Whiteside from Sticky Glass and I finally made the divine horsey connection through this class.

Currently, I have the Thoroughbred Tumblers and am planning on future shapes and designs to share with y'all. I will be sharing more of the design process that I did to make the Thoroughbred Tumblers. Till next time though!
