Design Story: Saddle Pad Coasters

Have you ever wondered about the origins of the products you use every day? At our company, we take pride in the rich history and tradition that inspires our creations. The inspiration for our Saddle Pad Coasters comes from one of the oldest pieces of tack in horse back riding, the saddle pad.

Ancient Roots

Horseback riding has a long and storied history, dating back thousands of years. One of the essential pieces of equipment used by riders is the saddle pad. Originally designed to provide cushioning and protection for both horse and rider, saddle pads have evolved over time to become not only functional but also stylish accessories. One of the oldest saddle pads discovered along side of a well-preserved soft leather saddle recovered from the tomb of a female deceased at the Yanghai cemetery site in the Turfan Basin at the eastern end of the Tian Shan mountains. They estimate the pairing to be from 727–396 BCE!  

Traditional Materials
